Yohimbine is an alkaloid derived from the yohimbe tree. Therefore it becomes obvious that yohimbine and yohimbe are not the same. Often bodybuilders get confused with the two terms, especially because there is also the yohimbine HCL. Yohimbe contains Yohimbin and Yohimbin HCL is produced from Yohimbin. Those who use yohimbine as a medicine or fat burner will never discover "yohimbine" as an active ingredient in the table of contents.

The reason for this is simple: The alkaloid yohimbine is very basic and would therefore be destroyed by the extremely acid stomach acid after ingestion and thus completely inactivated. To prevent this, the pharmaceutical industry has started to add hydrochloride (HCL) to yohimbine. This hydrochloride is a salt of hydrochloric acid, which prevents the stomach acid from destroying the yohimbine alkaloid prematurely. A similar procedure is used for ephedrine.
